DEMAND JUSTICE’S CHRIS KANG IN NEW VIDEO: SENATE REPUBLICANS ARE COVERING UP KAVANAUGH’S RECORDS
New Video Features Demand Justice Chief Counsel Questioning Why Brett Kavanaugh’s Background Is Being Shielded From The Public
WASHINGTON, DC—Following the first day of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation hearing, NowThis News released a video featuring Demand Justice Chief Counsel Chris Kang making the case against Kavanaugh’s nomination. The video highlights Senate Republicans’ unprecedented unwillingness to release 90 percent of Kavanaugh’s record despite his years of experience as an influential member of the George W. Bush administration.
The video spotlights Kavanaugh’s anti-health care, anti-Roe v. Wade, and pro-presidential power opinions and then states that “even though we have some understanding of his record on these issues, we don’t know the half of it.” Senate Republicans are blocking the release of every single record from Kavanaugh’s three years as President Bush’s staff secretary, which could reveal significant information about whether or not Kavanaugh would be a suitable Supreme Court justice.
Senate Republicans are rushing through Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing, steamrolling through Democrats’ calls to adjourn until they have enough information to properly assess Kavanaugh’s record. The video emphasizes the suspicious concealment of almost all of Kavanaugh’s documents and urges constituents to call their senators and ask them to demand a release of Kavanaugh’s records.
